I've advised many startups
over the years – some as an Intel rep to a startup incubator, some as an advisor to Intel's VC arm,
and many who came to seek my advice on products in my fields of expertise. I was always pleasantly
surprised at the fertile interactions that resulted. Startups – the
better ones anyway – are incredible hot spots of ingenuity and skill; but evidently they can still
be short on the kind of insight and experience that I bring from a varied career at the juncture
of technology, user behavior and business practice. Here is what I've been doing for them,
and can do for you:
- Improve product design, notably in the one area where understanding user behavior
can make or break your product: user experience and user interface design. Many products out
there carry my feature ideas...
- Advise on product positioning, marketing strategy
and other business plan elements; and help present the product to investors and customers.
- Investigate the potential of the product for enterprise
use, and advise on navigating the challenges of getting enterprises to adopt it.
-
If your startup is starting to grow into a small company, I can help you define and adapt
the effective planning, teamwork and management processes that larger companies take for granted.
This is a particularly vulnerable point in a startup's evolution!
- If you have teams operating
in different countries, I can coach them in Virtual Team collaboration methods that will
enable them to interact well across the gaps of time, distance and culture.
- Lastly,
whenever you brainstorm and discuss things, which you do every day, having at the table someone
with a rich experience and a different, "outside" point of view turns out to be quite useful.
Of course, every startup is different... contact us
to set time to meet and discuss yours!
